¡®In English, It Would Be Donkey¡¯, Shah Rukh Khan Talks About His Rajkumar Hirani-Led Film Dunki
Shah Rukh Khan who is currently in Saudi Arabia for RSIFF 2022, talked about his upcoming film Dunki in a press interaction.
Shah Rukh Khan is ready to storm into theatres soon after a break of 4 years since he was last seen leading Zero (2018). SRK is currently gearing up for Pathaan co-starring Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. Amidst a great lineup of films, the Don actor also has Rajkumar Hirani's directorial Dunki in his kitty.
In a recent interview, SRK talked about Dunki which also stars Taapsee Pannu at the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia.
Shah Rukh told The Deadline, ¡°In English, my film would be called Donkey, it is Donkey. But the way a part of the country pronounces donkey in India, it is ¡®dunki¡¯. The Punjabis say it (donkey) like dunki¡ How much to tell you about the story¡ It is a film directed by one of the most brilliant filmmakers we have had in our country, Mr Raju Hirani. It is written by a very fantastic writer, Abhijat Joshi.¡±
¡°It is a story of people, who want to come back home¡ when you finally get the calling. It is a comic film. His (Rajkumar Hirani) films are always a mix of comedy and a lot of emotions about the country. So, it is a big journey film, and the film goes through different areas around the world and finally comes back home to India,¡± he further added.
Shah Rukh was given a special award at the film festival from where some of his videos with Kajol also floated on the internet.
While receiving the award, he said, "I am truly honoured to receive this award from the Red Sea International Film Festival. It's wonderful to be here among my fans from Saudi and the region who have always been huge supporters of my films. I'm looking forward to celebrating the region's talent and being a part of this exciting film community. Film is a unifier because it transits shared human experiences across cultures.¡±
¡°You like a film because it stirs your emotions, be it in whatever language or culture it is from. And Thank God for subtitles. It brings all that is human to the fore and it shows perhaps better than any other art, how despite the immense diversity of the world we live in, our basic pursuits and emotions are the same. "Cinema celebrates diversity. It doesn't stop short of fully exploring differences. And doing so, in the most beautiful fashion, it teaches us not to be afraid of those differences,¡± he added.
