Supreme Court Stays West Bengal's Ban On Adah Sharma's 'The Kerala Story', Orders Disclaimer
Ban on Adah Sharma's latest movie 'The Kerala Story' in West Bengal stayed by Supreme Court.
In response to a plea filed by the creators of 'The Kerala Story,' the court issued an order to lift the ban on the film imposed in West Bengal.
The filmmakers also brought attention to the situation in Tamil Nadu, where the state government claimed that theaters voluntarily halted the movie's screening.
SC Stays Ban On 'The Kerala Story' In West Bengal
The Supreme Court intervened, instructing the state not to impede the film's screening and ensuring the protection of all moviegoers.
Moreover, putting a stay on the West Bengal government's order, the apex court said that the state is duty-bound to maintain law and order.

"Law cannot be used to put a premium on public intolerance, otherwise all films will land in the same spot," the court noted as per reports.
Moreover, the court has ordered a disclaimer, which must be added by 5 pm on May 20, 2023.
According to reports, the disclaimer should state that "there is no authenticated data to back up the suggestion on the figure of conversion and the film represents the fictionalized version."
Makers To Donate Rs 51 Lakhs To Victims Of Religious Conversions
Meanwhile, makers of 'The Kerala Story' have announced a donation of Rs 51 lakhs for 300 victims of religious conversion.
Speaking about the initiative during a press conference, film producer Vipul Shah said, "The main reason for us to make The Kerala Story, why Sudipto came forward with the story and made the film, is to help these girls. We're going to start by helping rehabilitate 300 girls in the ashram. We, Sunshine Pictures and the team of 'The Kerala Story', would like to start by donating Rs 51 lakh."
