Surveen Chawla Reveals Her Casting Couch Experience. Surprisingly, It Isn't Related To Bollywood!
Actress Suvreen Chawla reveals about casting couch in Southern film industry in her latest interview.
It takes a lot of guts for a Bollywood celebrity to talk about an issue as sensitive as casting couch.
While many celebrities shy away from speaking or making any such detail public, Hate Story 2 actress Surveen Chawla admitted that she hasn¡¯t faced this in Bollywood but she has witnessed such things in the southern film industry. In an interview, she revealed:
"I feel very great that I have not encountered this (casting couch) here (Bollywood). I have faced this (casting couch) down south and of course I refused to give into that...Honestly I can only comment on it if I had encountered it in Bollywood. I don't know if I should call it sheer luck
Calling her passion for acting, she said that she has been "desperate about work", but has been "desiring about work". She added, "But (I am) not desperate to give in to anything to barter myself in exchange of work...I am too much in love with my dignity and self-respect. Work will bring me work and that's my motto," she added.
According to Surveen, casting couch in Bollywood existed decades ago. In an interview, she said,
"In my experience I can only comment on what I have been through. I have not had one single influence of casting couch, which goes a lot to say about the progress that Bollywood has made.
Talking about the fact that Bollywood has progressed, she said,
"I think there are far stronger women and makers who understand that their love is to make cinema and whoever fits well should be a part. So it is a great progression Bollywood has made," she said. Surveen, who started her acting career as a TV actor will return to small screen as a contestant in dance TV show Jhalak Dikhla Jaa 2016.
