'The Cost Of Speaking Up': Swara Bhasker Says She Isn't Getting Enough Work Despite Delivering Hits

Swara Bhasker, who has never minced her words recently, spoke about 'paying the price' for being 'too vocal'.
In addition to the hit-franchise Tanu Weds Manu, actor Swara Bhasker has turned heads with her outstanding performances in movies like Raanjhanaa, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Nil Battey Sannata, Anaarkali of Aarah, Veere Di Wedding, and Sheer Qorma.

She has established herself as a performer. Swara made her acting debut in the 2009 drama Madholal Keep Walking, in which she had a supporting role.
In a recent interview, she said she deliberately decided to jeopardize her acting career, and the 'cost has been huge.'

Swara alluded to herself as a better and more capable performer.
In addition, the actress has said that she has been in "six or seven blockbuster films and like a whole bunch of web series."

In a recent interview with The Times of India, Swara said, "I've consciously chosen to put at risk the thing that is most dear to me, and that is my work. And the cost has been huge, and it's been personal and emotional in the sense that I don't get to do the thing I love, which is acting. I don't get to do it enough."
She added that despite having a better track record than other actors, there had been a dearth of 'good opportunities.

"I'm a far better actor and a far more competent and effective actor than the opportunities that come my way. I have a far better track record in terms of my career. I've been part of six or seven blockbuster films and, like a whole bunch of web series [and] shows, I've led them. I've never had bad reviews, pretty much. There shouldn't be a reason for me to feel like I don't get enough work, but I don't."
Swara has never been shy about expressing her views on a wide range of topics.

She just finished off her participation in the Bharat Jodo Yatra. In the city of Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh, the actor walked beside Rahul Gandhi, the head of the Congress party. Swara shared her delight at the opportunity to participate in the foot march in a Twitter post.
She was last seen in Jahaan Chaar Yaar alongside Meher Vij, Pooja Chopra, and Shikha Talsania.
The film Jahaan Chaar Yaar narrates the story of a group of four married friends who choose to take a break from their mundane lives by traveling to Goa but instead find themselves in the middle of "an extraordinary adventure." The film was produced and directed by Vinod Bachchan and opened to poor reviews on September 16th. The movie was declared a flop.
Swara will be next seen in Mimamsa, a murder mystery. She is also working on the play Mrs. Falani, which focuses on women.
