Sudha Kongara¡¯s Soorarai Pottru featured Suriya as Maara, a character inspired by Air Deccan founder GR Gopinath, and highlighted his attempts at making aviation services accessible to the common man.
¡®Naddippin Nayakan¡¯ essayed the challenging role with ease and excelled in the emotional scenes. He was equally good in the romantic scenes with Aparna Balamurali. Singam (2010)

Ghajini (2005)
AR Murugadoss¡¯ Ghajini featured Suriya as a business tycoon who tries to avenge his girlfriend¡¯s murder while batting anterograde amnesia. The actor did complete justice to the brutal action scenes and managed to channel the character¡¯s vulnerability with effortless ease.

Kaakha Kaakha (2003)
Nearly seven years before the release of Singam, Suriya played a sincere cop in Gautham Menon¡¯s action-thriller Kaakha Kaakha . The film centered on the events that unfold when the protagonist kills a dreaded gangster and soon find himself at loggerheads with his brother. The film featured an emotional narrative and realistic action scenes.
Suriya's chemistry with Jyothika, who played his wife, also proved to be one of the film¡¯s big highlights. The film did well at the box office and received rave reviews with most critics praising the performances.
