'Jai Bhim' is based on the 1993 Cuddalore Incident where Rajakannu, a member of the Kurumbar tribal community was falsely accused of theft. He was imprisoned, and tortured by the Police officials.

2. Theran Adigaram ondru

Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru was based on the meticulously planned operations of the Tamil Nadu police that led to the gunning down of two members and arrest of a few other of the deadly Bawaria criminal tribes in Uttar Pradesh.

'Operation Bawaria' was launched in 2005 after the murder of AIADMK Gummidipoondi MLA Sudarsanam, and as a response to armed dacoits causing chaos in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The Bawarias were Oma, Ashok, Bsura and Vijay.

3. Thaana serndha kootam

This movie, released in 2018, is an Indian Tamil-language heist comedy film directed by Vignesh Shivan. Starring Suriya, alongside Karthik, Ramya Krishnan, Keerthy Suresh, Nandha, Kalaiyarasan, RJ Balaji, and Suresh Chandra Menon, the movie was an official remake of the 2013 Hindi film Special 26. The films were based on actual event 1987 Opera House heist in Mumbai.

This Indian Tamil-language coming-of-age drama was based on a college campus. The movie was inspired by a real-life incident of three Tamil Nadu Agricultural University college girls who were burnt alive in the 2000 Dharmapuri bus burning incident. The film received rave reviews from the audience.

Kannathil Muthamittal is a 2002 Indian Tamil-language musical war film based on a short story, "Amuthavum Avanum" by Sujatha. This Mani Ratnam movie starring Madhavan tells the story of a child of Sri Lankan Tamil parentage adopted by Indian parents, who desire to meet her biological mother amid the Sri Lankan Civil War.

6. George Reddy

The movie is a biopic based on the life of a student leader, boxer and Gold medalist who influenced the politics of Andhra Pradesh state in Osmania University between 1967 and 1972. He is remembered and celebrated for inspiring revolutionary thoughts, but he was brutally murdered at his hostel in 1972.

Take Off is based on a real-life rescue mission that saved the Indian nurses stranded in Tikrit, Iraq, during the country's civil war in 2014. The movie was lauded for capturing and showing the real ordeal suffered by the nurses following their capture.
