Of late, Bollywood seems to be happily entering into the den of remakes and biopics. While the original films are available for the audiences to watch and they know the entire story already, such films bank in celebrity status.
Even songs are being remade these days, which brings us to only one question -- is Bollywood losing originality?
Here is a list of blockbuster South Indian films that are being remade in Bollywood with A-list actors.
1. Jersey
Starring Shahid Kapoor, Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapoor in prominent roles, Jersey remake is being directed by Gowtham Tinnanuri, who also helmed the original. The film--which originally starred Nani, Shraddha Srinath and Satyaraj--is about a failed cricketer who revives his career in the sport in his late 30s because of his son.

The remake of this 2005 Tamil film will star Ranveer Singh in the lead role and will be helmed by Shankar. Starring Vikram and Sadha in lead roles, Anniyan, an action-drama revolve around a man who suffers from multiple personality disorder.
3. Master
If the grapevine is to be believed, Salman Khan has been approached to play the role that Thalapathy Vijay essayed in Master. According to Pinkvilla, Salman has liked the concept of the movie too. It is said that he has shown interest in doing the film. The film revolves around an alcoholic professor who is sent to a juvenile school. Drama unfolds when he sees a gangster is using children for criminal activities.
4. Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru
Karthick Naren's crime thriller Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru will star Varun Dhawan in the role of Rahman. The film will be produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and is tentatively titled Sanki. The movie will also star Parineeti Chopra and Naren will be leading the Bollywood remake as well.
5. HIT
In the Hindi remake of Telugu thriller HIT, Rajkummar Rao will play the role of trouble cop from Homicide Intervention Team. The film revolves around the cop who is working on the case of a missing girl and is reminded of the traumatic past that puts him in jeopardy.
6. Vikram Vedha
The original film which featured Vijay Sethupathi and R Madhavan is about a policeman Vikram who is on a hunt to capture Vedha. When Vedha surrenders and tells him his story, Vikram changes his notion of good and evil. The remake will star Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan.
7. Soorarai Pottru
Tamil film Soorarai Pottru, which was eligible for Oscars 2020, is now getting a Hindi remake. The film will be directed by Sudha Kongara, who helmed the original. It is said that while many A-listers including Hrithik Roshan and John Abraham were being considered for the role, Akshay Kumar has reportedly bagged the role.
8. Kaithi
Ajay Devgn, who is hailed as the king of South Indian remakes, will star in the remake of Kaithi. The original film that starred Karthi, Narain and George Maryan followed an an ex-convict who tries to meet his daughter after he is out of prison. His attempts are interrupted due to a drug raid planned by an inspector.
9. Ratsasan
Akshay will also star in the remake of Ratsasan, a Tamil thriller, along with Rakul Preet. The original film, which revolved around the story of a cop who tracks down a serial killer who murders schoolgirls, starred Vishnu Vishal and Amala Paul.
10. Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo
In the remake of this Allu Arjun's Telugu blockbuster, Kartik Aaryan will reportedly play the lead role. The Hindi remake will be titled Shehzada and will be directed by Rohit Dhawan. the story of the film revolves around a boy who grows up being constantly subjected to his father's scorn.
11. Bhaagamathie
Starring Bhumi Pednekar in the lead role, the movie will also have Arshad Warsi playing a prominent character. Just like the origial, the remake will also be directed by G Ashok. The remake of the film that originally starred Anushka Shetty will be presented by Akshay Kumar.
