207 People Who Came In Contact With Tom Hanks & Wife Rita Wilson To Be Screened For Coronavirus
Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson have contracted COVID-19 Coronavirus. The couple is kept in isolation at an Australian hospital. They are both in stable condition as per reports. People who were in close contact with them will have to self-quarantine.
Shortly after World Health Organization (WHO) officially declared coronavirus outbreak as pandemic, Tom Hanks announced that he and his wife Rita Wilson have contracted COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and left everyone in shock and worry.
As per the latest development, the couple is kept in isolation at an Australian hospital. They are both in stable condition, as per reports.
It is said that people who were in close contact with them will have to self-quarantine.
Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said that "people who have come in close contact with Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson will now need to self isolate and quarantine. Self-isolating means staying in your apartment or your house ¡ª it doesn't mean going down to the shops and getting a bottle of milk or anything like that."
Wilson, a singer and actress, had performed at Brisbane's Emporium Hotel and the Sydney Opera House in the past week.
The authorities are tracking "approximately 207 people" who may have been in contact with the couple.
Tom Hanks, in 2013, had revealed that he was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Diabetes UK had recently stated that people who have this condition may experience severe coronavirus symptoms in comparison to others.
Hanks is the first major Hollywood star to publicly state that he has contracted the virus, which has so far affected more than 1,25,000 people across the world and killed more than 4,600.
Tom Hanks was on the Gold Coast for pre-production of an Elvis Presley biopic by Australian director Baz Luhrmann in which the actor portrays the legendary singer's longtime manager Colonel Tom Parker. The work on the film has been halted.
