After the winners were announced in August, the 70th National Film Awards are all set to take place at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on October 8. The winners will be honoured by President Droupadi Murmu. Among those who have won big include Kantara actor Rishab Shetty, Thiruchitrambalam actress Nithya Menen, Unchai director Sooraj Barjatya, Ponniyin Selvan music director AR Rahman, Kutch Express actress Manasi Parekh. Mithun Chakraborty will also be honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.

While Rishab Shetty and Nithya Menen received Best Actor awards, Malayalam film Aattam won Best Film. Best Film has been awared to Kantara (Kannada) and Best Feature Film promoting national, social, and environmental values to Express (Gujarati). Best Film in AVGC is Brahmastra Part 1. Best Actor in Supporting Role is Neena Gupta for Uunchai (Hindi), and Pavan Raj Malhotra for Fouja. Besides, Manoj Bajpayee got special mention award for his work in Gulmohar (Hindi).
Mithun Chakraborty on winning Dadasaheb Phalke Award
On the red carpet, Mithun Chakraborty said, "I am yet to digest the news. I am still in a daze. Thank you very much. After all these years, it seems God has given back something to me with interest."
Choreographer Jani Master¡¯s National Award suspended
After massive backlash on Jani Master being given bail to attend the National Film Awards, the I&B Ministry suspended his win. Not just that, the authorities also withdrew the invitation to the choreographer to attend the 70th National Film Awards in New Delhi on Tuesday. Jani Master was supposed to be honoured at the ceremony for his work on the song Megham Karukkatha from 2022 Tamil movie Thiruchitrambalam, was invited for the event "before the allegations of crime under POCSO Act came to light."
"In view of the seriousness of the allegation and the matter being subjudice, the Competent Authority has decided to suspend the National Film Award of the Best Choreography for the Year 2022 to Shri Shaik Jani Basha for the film Thiruchitrambalam until further orders. Hence, the invitation extended to Shri Shaik Jani Basha for the 70th National Film Awards Function to be held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi on 8.10.24 is hereby withdrawn," read the note, signed by deputy director Indrani Bose.
