Flight Lands After 35 Years! JL50 Teaser Is D¨¦j¨¤ Vu To Santiago Flight 513's Unsolved Mystery

Among the many trailers that were released last week including that of The Batman and Wonder Woman 1984, Justice League and The Suicide Squad, was Sony LIV's JL50 that couldn't attract a lot of limelight, which it truly deserves.

The 1 minute 20 second teaser will blow your mind. The show starring Abhay Deol, Pankaj Kapur and Piyush Mishra has already piqued up our excitement.

So, what exactly happened? How come a a plane that went missing 35 years ago but crashed just a week ago? Is the series about time travel? It's not a regular survival horror show, but a suspenseful mystery.

While the plot details have been kept under the wraps, here's a real-life story of a mysterious plane that was discovered 35 years after it went missing. The teaser of JL50 reminded us of this incident.

The incident took place between 1954 and 1989. Reportedly, Santiago Airlines Flight 513 took off on Sep 4, 1954 from Aachen, West Germany. It was scheduled to land in Porto Alegre, Brazil post 18 hours. However, that didn't happen. The plane was nowhere to be found.

The plane went missing over the Atlantic Ocean all of a sudden.

Neither the remains of the plane nor of the passengers were found later. A team was set up to look into the mystery, but nothing was found. The search had to be called off.

Decades later, on Oct 12, 1989, an unauthorized airplane circling around the airbase of Porto Alegre airport was discovered.

The aircraft belonged to Santiago Airlines, an an airline that had shut its doors in 1956.

Ninety-two preserved skeletons of people were found in the plane. They were all buckled up in their seats. In fact, the pilot also had his hands on the controls.

Was this incident true or a cooked up story?

There is no proof of the entire incident, but many weird theories involving wormholes had emerged at that point in time. The news was published in Weekly World News, a tabloid that was infamous for its "fictional stories."

Furthermore, many believed that the story was similar to an episode of The Twilight Zone's The Odyssey of Flight 33, and hence, believed it to be false. The lack of evidence was one of other reasons why this story soon vanished into thin air. Many believed there was government's involvement in the disappearance

A recent television show was also based on the same concept. Titled Manifest, the show was about a flight that lands five years later causing havoc in the lives of the passengers who were onboard.

Meanwhile, Abhay confirmed that the show is based on the concept of time travel.

"JL-50 is set in this world and my character travels through space/time to solve a mystery that has a life-changing effect on him. There are no light sabers, no men in spandex with capes and no furry creatures. It¡¯s actually about real life and an extraordinary event," Abhay Deol had told Mumbai Mirror.

The release date for JL50 hasn't been announced as of yet.
