Actress Kangana Ranaut took to her social media account to share that her car was stopped in Punjab's Kiratpur Sahib on Friday. In a series of Instagram stories, she wrote that her car was mobbed by protesters demanding an apology for her statements.
To jog your memory a little, Kangana made strange comments against farmers who had been campaigning against the centre's controversial farm laws that were finally repealed.
An ardent supporter of BJP, Ms Ranaut expressed her views against the laws. She also condescending statements against the protesting farmers by calling them terrorists, Khalistanis and "anti-social elements" for over a year.
On Friday, Kangana was getting back from Shima and was passing through Punjab when her car was stopped by protesters waving flags and shouting slogans.
The incident occurred in Bunga Sahib, Kiratpur Sahib, on Chandigarh-Una Highway.
In a video shared by Kangana, she said, "I have been surrounded by a mob here. They are abusing me and threatening to kill me."
She added, "This mob lynching in public. What would happen if I didn't have security with me. The situation here is unbelievable. Am I a politician? What is this behaviour?"
One older woman asked Kangana to think before she spoke. ¡°Jadd gall karni tan soch ke karni,¡± she said in Punjabi. She replied to another woman in Punjabi, ¡°I did not say anything about you, I spoke about those protesting at Shaheen Bagh.¡±
However, Kangana stepped out of her car and salvaged the situation by speaking to a few women protesters, following which she could finally leave the area.
Explaining her stance, she told the farmers that her comments were mainly aimed at protesters at Delhi's Shaheen Bagh, who had been demonstrating against the centre's controversial citizenship law last year.
