The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken a step against actor Siddharth and written to Twitter to block his official handle. This action comes after his tweet on ace shuttler and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Saina Nehwal.
On January 6, Siddharth's tweet had triggered outrage on social media.
¡°@NCWIndia has taken cognizance. Chairperson @sharmarekha has written to @DGPMaharashtra for investigating & registering FIR in the matter. NCW has also written to @TwitterIndia for blocking the actor's account & to take appropriate action against him for posting such remarks,¡± the commission shared on Twitter.

¡°This man needs a lesson or two! @TwitterIndia, why does this person's account still exist? ¡taking it up with Concerned police,¡± Sharma posted.

That's the reference. Reading otherwise is unfair and leading!
Nothing disrespectful was intended, said or insinuated. Period. ??

Shame on you #Rihanna https://t.co/FpIJjl1Gxz
Siddharth had written,
¡°Subtle c**k champion of the world¡Thank God we have protectors of India. Shame on you, #Rihanna.¡±
The actor's tweet hinted at popstar Rihanna and her tweet from February over 'suspended' farmers' protests last year. She had written, ¡°Why aren't we talking about this?¡±
Responding to Siddharth and the controversy, Nehwal said he could have chosen better words to express himself.
Saina's father, Harvir Singh Nehwal (Saina's father), spoke to Times now and slammed him. He was quoted as saying,
¡°I felt very bad when he used such words for my daughter. What has he done for the country? She has won medals, brought laurels for India. I¡¯ve always believed India is a great society, and Saina has the support of journalists and sporting fraternity because they know how much struggle a sportsperson goes through."
Siddharth's clarification hasn't salvaged the situation as people on Twitter are still outraging against the actor and his 'language.'
