After Sonu Nigam, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi Calls Azaan On Loudspeakers Uncivilised, Not Required
Suchitra Krishnamoorthi tweeted about morning Azaan recently and sparked off the debate all over again. The actress-singer has starred in films such as Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa opposite Shah Rukh Khan.
A few complaining tweets early in the morning that Sonu Nigam posted, embroiled him in such a big controversy that a fatwa was issued against him and he even had to go bald to take a stand for what he had said. Clearly, Sonu Nigam's problem wasn't with the religious practice but with the usage of loudspeakers that ruined his sleep. After a lot of hoopla, the controversy fizzled out some time back.
However, the issue still persists and has been seemingly bothering Suchitra Krishnamoorthi, who has starred in films such as Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa opposite Shah Rukh Khan. The actress-singer tweeted about morning Azaan recently and sparked off the debate all over again.

I remind dem its good to wakeup at BrahmaMuhurt acc to Hinduism.
Azaan only helps to do so... https://t.co/erXoojTOyO
In response to that, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi reminded that loudspeakers are not needed to remind anyone of his/her god.
i wake up at Brahmamuhurt of my own accord & do my prayers & riyaz.& yoga. I dont need public loudspeakers to remind me of my God or my duty https://t.co/7rPSzG1EfB

The practice isn't "civilised," she wrote in another tweet.
nobody objects to azaan or prayers during decent hours. But to be wakung up entire neighbourhood at 5 am is not civilized https://t.co/PBT94NtuGN

We hope that this time the debate on the usage of loudspeakers comes down a conclusion.
