Two Weeks After Promoting Her Show Poacher, Alia Bhatt Draws Flak For Carrying A Leather Bag
Alia Bhatt is being called a hypocrite for flaunting a leather bag at a Gucci event, just weeks after promoting her crime web series Poacher and talking about animal cruelty.
Alia Bhatt is being called a hypocrite after people spotted her carrying a calf leather bag. This happened weeks after she promoted Poacher, a crime web series created by Richie Mehta of Delhi Crime fame for which she donned the hat of an executive producer.
Reacting to the post, a Reddit user wrote, "The least she could have done is not carry a calf leather bag less than two weeks after promoting the web series. Before people come at me, yes, I'm aware that Gucci provides her with a certain number of options to choose from and they might not have provided her with any non leather bags. However, she's Alia Bhatt, not an influencer that does not have the ability to refuse/demand other options. I know that she gets a lot of unnecessary hate but like¡ she also does dumb things like this on a regular basis."
For the unversed, Alia was spotted at a Gucci event that celebrated Ancora, the Spring Summer 2024 collection with Global Brand Ambassador Alia Bhatt.
Another user commented, "This could have been avoided by NOT carrying that bag. At least not in public. Be a hypocrite like everyone else, but at least be smart enough to do it behind the camera."
"The double standards of these celebrities (not just Alia) is so annoying," said another one.
The description of the Gucci bag on its website reads, "The new Gucci Jackie is crafted from premium fine leather which highlights the craftsmanship, crescent shape, and sleek silhouette of the House's iconic shoulder bag. Light gold-toned hardware, leather trim, and an additional Web strap gives this Gucci Jackie small shoulder bag in black leather further styling options."
Announcing her association with Poacher, Alia Bhatt in a statement had earlier said, "Being part of this incredibly significant project is an honor, for both me and the entire team at Eternal Sunshine Productions. The impact of Poacher was deeply personal, and Richie¡¯s portrayal of the urgent issue of wildlife crime resonated strongly with me and the team."
She added, "The storytelling genuinely moved me, especially knowing it¡¯s based on true events, that sheds light on brutal crimes occurring in our forests. I am confident that Poacher will serve as an eye-opener, delivering a powerful message to be more compassionate and considerate towards all living beings. It¡¯s a call to embrace coexistence and I am genuinely thrilled to be collaborating with Richie, QC and Prime Video and to contribute to this narrative."
