Alia Bhatt Calls Bollywood A Brutal Industry, Says Even Superstars Have To Work Hard To Survive

Alia Bhatt made her debut with 'Student Of The Year', but that did not guarantee a promising future. The movie received a lukewarm response, but Bhatt did make heads turn.

While Alia is all set to complete a decade in Bollywood, her filmography boasts of the risks she took without feeling threatened.

Alia has done films like Udta Punjab, Dear Zindagi, and Gully Boy and time and again proved that she is up for more extensive and tougher challenges as an actor. Alia's next challenge is Gangubai Kathiawadi, which her fans eagerly awaited.

During the promotions of Gangubai, Alia Bhatt spoke to RJ Siddharth Kanan and opened up about the survival tactics for an actor.

She said, "hard work, consistency, and connect with the audience" has worked in their favor. Alia adds, "There are too many factors. The main thing is that you put your life and soul everything into working, and that's the only reason you'll survive."

Calling Bollywood the "most brutal industry," Alia adds that until you don't give your 100% to it, "You won't survive more than six months or a year."

She added that no matter who you're, you need to work hard to sustain in an industry as cut-throat as Bollywood.

Talking about her working equation with co-actors Ajay Devgn and Shah Rukh Khan, Alia said that they do not come with the baggage of being a superstar to the set.

Alia adds, "When I see superstars, they are very normal, not creating a big fuss or whatever. They are stars for the audience, but at the end of the day, when they come on the sets, they are working."

SLB's period drama features Alia in the title role of Gangubai, one of the most powerful, loved, and respected madams from Mumbai's red-light area Kamathipura during the 1960s.
