What is the Mameru ceremony?
Traditionally, the bride receives presents and sweets from her maternal uncle, or "mama," during the Mameru ceremony, a beloved Gujarati wedding custom. The presents usually consist of jewelry, chura (bangles) made of ivory or white, a Panetar saree, and a gorgeously organized tray of sweets and dried fruits.
