Team Of Animal Responds After Actor Swanand Kirkire Calls Out The Film For Being Misogynistic

Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Animal is creating quite a lot of buzz. It's after a long time that a film has kickstarted intense debates on social media and otherwise. While some people are lauding the movie, others are criticising it for being misogynistic.

Lyricist, writer and actor Swanand Kirkire who has written lyrics for some popular songs like Behti Hawa Sa Tha Woh from 3 Idiots, Piyu Bole from Paprineeta and Bande Me Tha Dum from Lage Raho Munna Bhai also slammed the Sandeep Reddy Vanga movie saying that he was ashamed and embarrassed after watching the movie.

Following this, the team of Animal has responded to the Swanand Kirkire's remark. The official Instagram account of the movie took a dig at the National Award-winning lyricist and wrote, "Do not let your knees fall ahead of your toes or cave in towards each other. Keep feet shoulder-width apart to maintain a good base of support for balance. Land softly on the balls of the feet to help absorb the force of the landing. Yes.... now it landed perfectly (flying kiss emoticon) @swanandkirkire."

On December 2, he took to Twitter to write about the film in Hindi. Mentioning a lot of movies like Shantram's Aurat and Gurudutt's Saheb Biwi aur Ghulam, he wrote, "There are many such films which taught me how to respect a woman, her rights and her autonomy and how many shortcomings there are still in this age-old thinking even after understanding everything. I don't know whether I succeeded or not, but even today I am constantly trying to improve myself. All thanks to cinema.

He then slammed Animal for being misogynistic and wrote, "But today after watching the movie Animal, I really felt pity for the women of today's generation. Then a new man has been prepared for you, who is more scary, who does not respect you that much and who aims to subdue you, suppress you and feels proud of himself.

Ranbir's dialogue in which he defines alpha male and says that those men who are not able to become alpha, they become poets to get the pleasure of all women and start making promises of breaking the moon and stars.

"I am a poet! I do poetry to live! Is there a place for me? A film is making a lot of money and the glorious history of Indian cinema is being embarrassed. In my understanding, this film will determine the future of Indian cinema afresh, in a different, terrible and dangerous direction," he wrote.
