Not Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap Thinks He Is The 'Most Nepotistic Filmmaker' In The Country
Anurag Kashyap says he only works with the people he knows closely and that's nepotism. He called himself the most nepotistic filmmaker in the country.
The N-word has brought controversies to a lot of people. Remember when Ananya Panday explained her "struggle" despite being a product of nepotism and getting trolled severely? The N-word has refused to leave Karan Johar. After all, it all started with him too. However, Anurag Kashyap thinks he is the "most nepotistic filmmaker" in the country and not KJo who is often trolled for the same.
It all started after Kangana Ranaut tagged the filmmaker "as the flagbearer of nepotism". Since then people have been noticing who he casts in his film. When he announced Bedhadak, he was trolled once again for casting Sanjay Kapoor and Maheep Kapoor's daughter Shanaya in it.
Now, Anurag Kashyap has defined what nepotism is and he thinks he is a part of it too.
In a conversation with News 18, Kashyap declared, "I am the most nepotistic filmmaker in the country."
He then explained, "What is nepotism? Okay fine, my daughter is not there in the films but I will not hire somebody who I don¡¯t know. It¡¯s not a camp, it¡¯s not even favouritism. I need to know my people because I trust them.
"I work with a lot of trust so when I trust someone, it has to be fully there and I trust people that I hire."
Kashyap also talked about actors getting replaced with other actors. Calling it a general process, he said that it exists in every industry, and it happens because people want to work with those they trust the most.
"Who do you trust the most in your (troubled) time? Actually, anybody will trust family, right, so for me my set is like my family. That does exist and ek ke through hi dusra aata hai, woh nepotism hi hai. If my first AD (assistant director) is leaving, I would not know who is a good AD in the market. My AD will give me another AD who is good. If my production designer is leaving, he will give me another production designer," he added.
Anurag Kashyap indeed has an interesting take on nepotism. The ace filmmaker is currently busy promoting his forthcoming movie Dobaara which stars Taapsee Pannu in the lead role and is all set to be released on Aug 19.
