After 49 celebs including Anurag Kashyap wrote to PM Modi over growing intolerance, hate crime and lynchings in the country, 62 other celebs including Madhur Bhandarkar countered them with another open letter questioning their ¡°selective outrage and false narrative.¡± And now after the 49 celebs released a press statement, the war of words continues on Twitter.
The war of words between Anurag Kashyap and Madhur Bhandarkar started after the latter on a news channel took a dig at the former saying he showed ¡°duplicity¡± by criticising government on one hand and on the other taking subsidies to shoot his films in Uttar Pradesh.
Hitting back at Madhur Bhandarkar, Anurag Kashyap took to Twitter to clarify that subsidies weren¡¯t started by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He called his statement a joke. Anurag also said that he might be against Modi but he is 100 percent Indian.
What a joke!! It¡¯s my state . I was born in UP , I grew up in UP. Film subsidies were not started by Yogi ji. He is not the owner of the state , he is the Chief Minister. I might disagree with Modiji but I still am 100 % indian and I make films in India & will continue to do so. https://t.co/Yi6b0tjFs5

After the counter open letter, the 49 celebs have cleared their stance in a press statement. "There is nothing in our letter that can even remotely be construed as a conspiracy against the nation. The constitution guarantees us the right to express our concern about minority communities. We have mentioned certain facts and statistics about minorities and Dalits, based on reliable research, in a letter to our Prime Minister. We are waiting for his reply. We have received many responses, both positive and negative to our letter, but do not consider ourselves accountable to anyone except the honorable Prime Minister himself. We will, not, therefore, engage in any debate with anyone. We will respond in our own time in a separate press conference," it reads.
