At the age of 79, Savita Bajaj is battling financial woes. Her health is deteriorating. Three months ago, she was diagnosed with COVID-19 for 22 days. She was once again hospitalised after she complained of breathlessness. In 2016, she had suffered an accident. All her savings have been dried up, and so she is urging for financial help. She says her family has refused to keep her.
Shyam Benegal's National award-winning film Nishant to several other notable films like Raadha Aur Seeta and Beta Ho Toh Aisa, yesteryear actress Savita Bajaj has featured several films in her career.
But today, at the age of 79, she is battling financial woes. Her health is deteriorating. Three months ago, she was diagnosed with COVID-19 for 22 days. She was once again hospitalised after she complained of breathlessness. In 2016, she had suffered an accident.
All her savings have been dried up, and so she is urging for financial help. She says her family has refused to keep her.
"Sadly, I have nobody who can take care of me today. Around 25 years ago, I had decided to move back to my hometown, Delhi, but no one in my family wanted to keep me. I have earned a lot, helped those in need, but today I need help," she told TOI in an interview.
Bajaj who has featured in over 50 films and several other TV shows says that she will pay the money back once she is alright.
"I have every intention to pay back the money once I resume work, but right now, I¡¯m not in a condition to work due to my poor health."
After her accident in 2016, writers association helped her with Rs 1 lakh. CINTAA, too, gifted her Rs 50,000.
