Did you know, Atif Aslam was trying to pursue cricket first before he forayed into the world of music! Well, the Pakistani singer blessed us all with his presence in the Bollywood music industry. Thank god as 2000s will always be special to us only because we had an original singer who was not only soulful and soothing with his craft but also addictive.

I mean, today, we have Arijit Singh, Mohit Chauhan and Prateek Kuhaad but Atif Aslam is one such singer who you can listen to on loop, and not just one or two songs. 1. Aadat

Not many know, but Atif Aslam was the lead singer of Jal band. Infact, in early 2005-2006, the band frequently came to Delhi, Mumbai to play at concerts and College festivals. Atif started out at 17 with little pocket money and together , Jal released their song Aadat in 2003 and it became an overnight sensation. Yep, a youth anthem. Still is.

2. Jal Pari

Soon after, Atif came out with his solo album, with not 5,7 or 10 songs but 11 wholesome tracks which became an instant tracks. Zindagi, Yakeen, Aadat and Mahi Ve were some of the popular tracks.

3. Atif's Bollywood breakthrough came with Woh Lamhe

His big Bollywood break came with Mahesh Bhatt's movie Zeher where he sang 'Woh Lamhe'. The nation sang the song with him and people fell in love with the way Atif looked and Atif sang.

4. Tere Bin from Bas Ek Pal became a global love song

One of the best playback singers in India and Pakistan, Atif Aslam sang Tere Bin from the 2006 movie Bas Ek Pal composed by Mithoon which turned out to be again one of the popular tracks.

5. Atif's songs have been used in a Hollywood film too

Atif has not only Asian audience but has fan following world wide. Just like, Prateek Kuhaad made it to Barak Obama's playlist, Atif's three songs made in a Hollywood film Man Push Cart.

6. Who can forget 'Pehli Nazar Mein'

Bipasha sizzled it up in this song with Akshaye Khanna but it was Atif Aslam who continues to make this song evergreen. The King of melody ensures Pehli Nazar Mein is always played on Valentine's Day.

7. Kismat Konnection had only one good thing - Bakhuda Tumhi Ho

The Vidya Balan-Shahid Kapoor starrer was a breath of fresh air because of the unique pairing. But it became extremely popular because of Atif Aslam's sound tracks. It surely continues to be evergreen.

8. Atif kept soaring high even in 2009- 2010 - yep he was unstoppable

In the 2009 romantic film Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Atif sang two chartbuster songs Tu Jaane Na and Tera Hone Laga Hoon which fetched him several nominations. That year was Atif's best , after all he released Kuch Is Tarah and Tere Liye apart from 9 songs from Prince. The numerous chart topping numbers showcased the rockier side of Aslam

9. Atif continued his stint in Bollywood music - till very recently Dil Diya Gallan

Main rang Sharbaton Ka was nominated at World Music Awards in 2014 for "Best Song". In 2015, he sang Jeena Jeena in Badlapur. The song topped various charts and was one of the biggest hits of 2015, which also got him a nomination for the Filmfare award for best playback singer.

In the last three years, we have seen very less of Atif Aslam. Following the 2019 Pulwama attack in February, the All-Indian Cinema Workers Association, in solidarity with the Indian government, placed an immediate ban on all Pakistani works within Indian cinema/music and ordered all Pakistani artists to leave the country.
