On the eve of Dussehra, politician Baba Siddique was shot at by 3 unidentified assailants at his son's office in Mumbai. He was immediately rushed to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital from the Bandra office where doctors attempted to treat him for his two bullet wounds but he sadly succumbed to his injuries. While the hunt is on to catch the criminals, here's all you need to know about the 66-year-old political leader who also has a deep connection with Bollywood stars, and is often credited for ending the fight between superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan.

Who was Baba Siddique?
Baba Siddique was an influential leader who has dedicated his life to politics for the past 48 years. While he first started as a leader in Congress and served as a minister in the Maharashtra government from the party, he recently joined the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). The career politician served as an MLA in the state for three consecutive years till 2013 and was famous for throwing lavish Iftaar parties every Eid.
His infamous parties were attended by the who's who of Bollywood and Siddique is known to have shared a close relationship with several Bollywood A-listers like Sanjay Dutt, Shilpa Shetty, Salim Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and many more.
How did Baba Siddique end Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan's fight?
It was at one of his infamous parties where he played the role of a moderator and subtly ended the infamous Shah Rukh Kahn-Salman Khan feud. It was the year 2013 and Shah Rukh and Salman were reportedly not on speaking terms after the duo had an alleged fight at Salman Khan's then-girlfriend Katrina Kaif's birthday party earlier that year.
At his party, Siddique subtly seated Shah Rukh Khan next to Salman's father Salim Khan. When the Pathaan actor arrived at the event he greeted Salim Khan, sat next to him and started talking with him. A few moments later, Salman Khan arrived there, greeted all the attendees and also acknowledged Shah Rukh. Then the Karan Arjun actors shook hands and hugged ending their tight, to the delight of everyone present and all of the film fraternity.
Such was Baba Siddique's influence as soon as news of his tragic and untimely death made rounds on the internet, several politicians and stars including Salma, Shilpa and Sanjay Dutt rushed to the hospital to express their grief and offer their support to his family.
