'Gadhe ghode ek saath daud rahe hain': Bhuvan Bam takes a dig at influencers acting in Bollywood movies
Bhuvan Bam shares his thoughts on social media influencers being cast in Bollywood movies, comparing the race for roles to "ghode aur gadhe saath mein daud rahe hain." Bhuvan pointed out that while the ultimate goal for many influencers is to land roles in OTT projects or films, the perception of them remains challenging to change.
When the Vada Pav girl made it to Bigg Boss OTT 2, a lot of people questioned her participation. In the past couple of years, many social media influencers have been cast as actors in movies including Kusha Kapila, Prajakta Koli, Vishnu Kaushal and Viraj Ghelani among others. When YouTuber Bhuvan Bam was asked about influencers bagging acting roles in Bollywood movies, here's what he said.

In an interview with HT, he said, "I always say that hamare desh mein gadhe aur ghode saath mein daud rahe hain, aur gadhe thode se aage hi hain. And this psyche is true in every industry," he said. He added while the ultimate goal for many influencers is to land roles in OTT projects or films, the perception of them remains challenging to change. "The eventual goal for anyone is to find an OTT project or a movie. So, the fight is to find work because perception (of a digital influencer) to change nahi hoga."
Earlier, Abhishek Banerjee who essays the role of Janaa in Stree and Stree 2 had revealed that casting directors these days are casting influencers on the basis of their followers. The more followers, the higher the chances of bagging a role in a Bollywood movie. In his opinion, influencers getting roles is not a problem, if they are good actors, but getting roles on the basis of followers is a big problem. "You¡¯ve seen the audition, shortlisted three people out of the lot¡ then you say all are good but the second one is really good. But the third one has more followers, that¡¯s a serious problem," he had said in an interview with Sucharita Tyagi for her YouTube channel.

Furthermore, he said that an actor's social media following doesn't bring people to theatres. Giving an example of Shah Rukh Khan who has 45 million followers, he said that SRK still brings more people to theatre in comparison to those who have more followers than him.
