In a tragic incident, Bollywood filmmaker Santosh Gupta's wife and daughter have allegedly died by suicide after setting themselves on fire at their home in Mumbai's suburban Andheri.
The incident came to light after their neighbors noticed the same and called for fire brigades. The two were rushed to Cooper Hospital where his wife, 55-year-old Asmita was declared dead on arrival while Srishti, who suffered 70 per cent burns, succumbed to her injuries at Airoli National Burns Centre on Tuesday.

The deceased Asmita and Srishti Gupta are the wife and daughter of Bollywood filmmaker Santosh Gupta, an official said as per PTI.
As per the preliminary probe, Asmita allegedly took the extreme step as she had been suffering from a prolonged kidney ailment and the daughter Srishti committed suicide due to the trauma of her mother's illness.

"We have registered two different accidental death reports in the case and further investigation is underway," senior inspector Bharat Gaikwad from DN Nagar police station told PTI.
