Child Rights Panel Questions CBFC, UNICEF Over Screening Of Films On Same-Sex Relationships In Bengal Schools

According to media reports, eight short films on same-sex relationships made by young filmmakers were shortlisted for Prayasam's 'Bad and Beautiful World Film Festival'.
After reopening educational institutes in West Bengal, the films are scheduled to be screened at several schools to 'promote inclusiveness'.

The screening was to be organised by UNICEF partner Prayasam.
NCPCR asked CBFC Chairman Prasoon Joshi to "kindly provide your comments" within ten days whether the selected movies "have obtained certification for screening in the State or not" and "what category of certification has been provided to the selected movies".
The movies mentioned include 'Dwitiya Purush', 'Dhora Pore Gechi Aami', 'Dutto', 'Deya Neya', 'Durbin', 'Dekha', 'Dakkhina' and 'DumbBell'.
