Telangana BJP leaders files complaint against filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma for his tweet on Draupadi and Pandavas.
Like Kangana Ranaut, Swara Bhaskar and a few other Bollywood celebrities, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, is also known to speak his mind when it comes to religion, society and politics.
The popular face from the B-Town has often landed himself into controversies for his remarks and once again he has done it with his latest post on social media. This time, the filmmaker has stirred a controversy with his comment linked to Draupadi and the Pandavas.
RGV's Controversial Tweet
"If DRAUPADI is the PRESIDENT who are the PANDAVAS? And more importantly, who are the KAURAVAS?", the filmmaker wrote on Twitter.
It has come to light that Gudur Narayana Reddy, the leader of the Telangana BJP has filed a complaint against RGV criticising his outrageous remarks which they might have thought indirectly hinted at Droupadi Murmu, who is the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) presidential candidate.
We are hurt at such comments by RGV: BJP Leader
In his complaint, Reddy mentioned that Varma¡¯s words were derogatory and insulting to the senior tribal woman politician.
Speaking of the controversial tweet Gudur Narayana Reddy told ANI, "This tweet is tantamount to disrespecting the SC and ST people. Here, he calls 'Draupadi' the President. We would have had no objections if he had only mentioned Draupadi, Pandavas and Kauravas. We, the BJP workers, are hurt at such comments by RGV."
Ram Gopal Varma's Take On North Vs South Debate
Recently, Ram Gopal Varma also shared his views on the ongoing North Vs South controversy. The filmmaker called Yash's KGF: Chapter 2 a 'Dark Cloud' for the Bollywood film industry as he claims that Hindi films did not do well at the box office because of it.
The filmmaker took to social media to share his thoughts on the failure of recently released Bollywood movies
He even suggested Bollywood should make films only for the OTT platforms. "I think #KGF is like an enormous tree under whose shadow, no tree seems to be growing," the filmmaker tweeted.
.#KGF2 is like a large dark cloud casting a doomsday shadow on all the other big films and the black clouds torrential collections are draining all other stars and star directors

Coming back to the controversy, Ram Gopal Varma in another tweet has said, ¡°This (tweet) was said just in an earnest irony and not intended in any other way. Draupadi in Mahabharata is my favourite character (sic) but since the name is such a rarity, I just remembered the associated characters and hence my expression. Not at all intended to hurt sentiments of anyone.¡±
