Daler Mehndi said he was shocked when he saw that Moose Wala was driving his car without security at a time when, in Punjab, every singer 每 famous or not 每 has a convoy along.
Sidhu Moose Wala's brutal murder near his hometown in Punjab has shaken the country. The 28-year-old rapper-politician was at the peak of his career when his life was cut short. Many have shared their thoughts on Moose Wala's death and mourned his death.
Sidhu Moose Wala's death has also reignited the debate on India's gun culture and gang culture.
In an interview with India Today, Veteran singer Daler Mehndi shared his two cents on Moose Wala's shocking death.
Daler Mehndi said he was shocked when he saw that Moose Wala was driving his car without security at a time when, in Punjab, every singer 每 famous or not 每 has a convoy along.
Daler Mehndi said,
※I have never heard his songs but have heard his name because he is so popular. I am extremely sad.§
Daler Mehndi added that he is unaware that Goldi Brar has taken full responsibility for Moose Wala*s death. Urging govt to take proper measures to regulate songs that could promote violence, Mehndi concluded by saying,
※I would request the government to pay attention to the songs and the lyrics. They should regulate songs that talk about or promote drugs, gangs, and gun culture or any song that has bad words for women. Such songs should be given a warning. They should be stopped. All this can get controlled if this happens.§
Daler Mehndi*s brother and musician Mika Singh also spoke about Sidhu Moose Wala*s murder.
In a chat with News18, Singh called the incident &shameful'. He also shared that Punjabi musicians have to go through a lot, including threats from gangsters. Mika said,
※I remember Parmish Verma, Gippy Grewal# even Sidhu told me three years ago that he has been receiving such threats. Many singers give money and save themselves. Budding singers get such threats. They know they do so many shows and earn well.§
Calling Moose Wala a 'self-made' singer, Mika added that he wasn't 'notorious'. Mika said,
"He was not the kind of person who would drink and disturb people. He was just a singer who made a name for himself with his songs. So, if this can happen to such a nice boy and celebrity, without any fear of punishment, ye toh poora jaanwar vaala tareeka hai."
Sidhu Moose Wala, a popular name in India and abroad, was mercilessly shot dead in Punjab. Though Moosewala faced criticism from several quarters for allegedly promoting violence and gun culture in his songs, he has a huge fan following among the youth.
He was also booked for allegedly promoting violence through his song §Sanju.§
He had earned the wrath of Sikh organizations for allegedly hurting their sentiments by using ※objectionable§ words against Mai Bhago, a Sikh warrior who fought against Mughals.
Moosewala had established his name as a Punjabi singer with chartbusters like &Jatt Da Muqabla,* &Dollar,* &So high,* and &Bambiha Bole.* During the poll campaign, he had told PTI that he wanted to do something good for the people of the Mansa constituency.
