Deepika Padukone's Fee For 'Padmavati' Makes Her The Highest Paid Actress & No, We Aren't Surprised
According to a latest report, Padukone has become the highest paid actress.
In a male-dominated industry, many Bollywood actresses have time and again spoken and rooted for pay parity.
However, amidst all the debates and discussions on why women too deserve to be equally paid in Bollywood, Deepika Padukone has successfully become the first change-maker.
According to a Mumbai Mirror report, Deepika Padukone is charging a whopping Rs 12 crores for Sanjay Leela Bhansali¡¯s Padmavati. Mumbai Mirror has also quoted a source who gave some intricate details about the same. According to Mumbai Mirror¡¯s claims, they have also seen a mail exchange that contained details of the contract.
This hasn't come as a surprise for any of us because when Forbes released its list of 100 richest Indian celebrities for 2015, Padukone was the ONLY woman to feature among the top-10. Says a lot, doesn't it?
"For Ram-Leela she got Rs 1 crore, for Bajirao Mastani, which came two years later, it was Rs 7 crore, this time it is Rs 12.62 crore, making her the first Bollywood actress to break the Rs 10 crore barrier!¡±
In 2015, Kangana Ranaut had made tall claims of receiving the highest fee among actresses but the amount was close to Rs 11 crores but it wasn¡¯t verified.
Deepika Padukone, who is no less than a full-throttle brand in herself (courtesy: her big Hollywood debut film with Vin Diesel) surely deserves this remuneration.
Does this hint at good days for actresses ahead? Time will tell. *Fingers crossed*!
