Gangs Of Wasseypur actor Pankaj Tripathi was an ABVP activist and was jailed during his college days, as per reports.
Pankaj Tripathi, who is known for his electrifying performances in projects like Gangs Of Wasseypur and Mirzapur, comes from a humble background. The actor made a mark in the film industry with his unconventional roles and has been garnering much love from the audience when it comes to acting.
The actor grabbed the limelight after portraying the character 'Sultan Qureshi', a henchmen in the popular Hindi-language two-part crime film series Gangs of Wasseypur, which also featured actors like Manoj Bajpayee, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Huma Qureshi, Richa Chadha among others.
The actor's journey in the industry has not been a piece of cake. As a child, Pankaj Tripathi used to work as a farmer just like his father until he reached 11th class at school.

For those unversed, the 'Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl' actor, who turned 46 today, was active in student politics during his collage days. He was once sent to prison when he was studying at Patna's Magadh University when he had joined the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
Sharing his experience at Patna's Beur jail, Pankaj Tripathi had earlier told PTI, "You don't have anything to do in jail. No meetings, no cooking, not doing anything. You are completely alone. When a man is extremely lonely, he starts discovering himself. I met myself in those seven days. When I started reading Hindi literature, I realised how alienated I was to this world. That completely changed me."
Moreover, the actor had shared with The Lallantop in 2020 that many of his friends who joined ABVP at the time are now MLAs in the state of Bihar.
¡°We were political prisoners so we had to stay in a separate barrack and it was around the Christmas break for courts so we had to stay for a week. Later, we came out on bail,¡± he said while narrating a firing incident in Madhubani.
On the work front, Pankaj Tripathi, who features in Criminal Justice Adhura Sach was last seen in the film 'Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga.' He has a couple of interesting projects lined up.
The actor is all set to be seen in Akshay Kumar's upcoming movie 'OMG Oh My God 2' apart from the third season of Mirzapur, his popular crime-based web series.
