In the wee hours of October 14, Veteran Marathi actor Atul Parchure left for his heavenly abode at the age of 57. Several media reports suggest that the seasoned star was battling cancer for a long time and recently the disease relapsed while he was working on the show Suryachi Pille. Parchure is survived by his mother, wife, and daughter.
Who was Atul Parchure?
With a career spanning over three decades, Atul¡¯s first screen appearance was as a child artist in 1985¡¯s hit show Khichdi. He then starred in several movies including Navra Mazha Navsacha, Salaam-E-Ishq, Partner, All the Best: Fun Begins, Khatta Meetha, Bbuddah... Hoga Terra Baap, and Brave Heart.
A well-known and respected name in the Marathi theatre world, Atul was also part of many hit TV shows including the most popular The Kapil Sharma Show alongside R. K. Laxman Ki Duniya, Comedy Nights with Kapil, Comedy Circus, Bh Se Bhade, Yam Hain Hum, Jaago Mohan Pyare among others.
Maharashtra's Chief Minister Eknath Shinde took to his Instagram handle and expressed grief over Atul Parchure¡¯s sudden demise. He started his long note by mentioning, ¡°Sometimes making the audience laugh, sometimes raising eyebrows. The untimely death of Atul Parchure, the ever-introverting classic actor, is painful.¡±
He wrote by the end, ¡°Due to his departure, Marathi has lost a classic actor. This loss is not recoverable. As one of Parchure's thousands of fans, I share the grief of the family. May God give them the strength to bear this sorrow. On behalf of the state government, I pay tribute to him.¡±
