Fans Gather In Large Numbers Outside Dilip Kumar's Ancestral House In Peshawar To Offer Prayers
When people in Pakistan heard about Dilip Kumar's demise, they visited his ancestral property in Qissa Khawani Bazaar of Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and offered prayers.
Dilip Kumar¡¯s ancestral home where he was born on Dec 11, 1922 as Yousuf Khan, is more than 100 years old. Located in Qissa Khawani Bazaar of Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, his home was recently declared national heritage of Pakistan after the Pakistani Government wished to buy it and turn it into a museum.
The only Indian actor to receive Pakistan¡¯s highest civilian award, Nishan-e-Imtiaz in 1998, Dilip Kumar was hailed for playing a significant role in bringing together Hindus and Muslims of the region.
"He is one guy who can bring India and Pakistan together. I gifted him my book and he signed and gifted me his autobiography. To me, this signed book will hold great significance. I wish Dilip Saab a long and healthy life," the former foreign minister of the country, Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri, said.
Dilip Kumar'ss funeral prayer in absentia was offered at his ancestral home in Peshawar's Mohallah Khudadad.

Kumar's nephew with a large number of fans and locals attended the funeral prayer and lit candles in his memory in front of his ancestral home.

Pakistan's top leadership, including President Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan, condoled Kumar's death, describing him as "an outstanding actor, a humble man, and a dignified personality".
The government of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) condoled the demise of the legendary actor, saying he will always be remembered for the love and affection he had for the people of his ancestral home town in the province.
Pakistani celebrities also paid their last respect.
Saddened to learn of Dilip Kumar's passing. I can never forget his generosity in giving his time to help raise funds for SKMTH when project launched. This is the most difficult time - to raise first 10% of the funds & his appearance in Pak & London helped raise huge amounts.

Kumar visited Peshawar in the early 90's. He was given an unprecedented reception and welcome by the people of Peshawar.
Majeed Lala, who also owned a shop, said he was shocked on hearing about Kumar's death.
