Gym Trainer To Impeccable Actor, Sharad Kelkar Is Proving His Acting Mettle, One Role At A Time

A film might fail to make an impression on the audiences but good performances stay forever. Lootera might be a flop film, but Ranveer Singh's performance won the hearts of the people. Sarbjit didn't do well at the box office, but Randeep Hooda left everyone with surprise with his powerful method performance.

Similarly, Laxmii might not have struck a chord with the audiences, but more than Akshay Kumar, it's Sharad Kelkar's cameo, a 15-minute role, that is being described as the soul of the movie. People are going gaga over his portrayal of a transgender.

It's hard to believe that the man who has lent his voice to Vin Diesel in the Hindi version of Deepika Padukone's debut Hollywood film xXx: Return of Xander Cage, once stammered. Kelkar's father unfortunately passed away when he was young. His mother raised him up. He had no plan but he knew that he wanted to help his mother financially. He graduated in Physical education and started his own gym in the 2000. He would make Rs 2500 per month.

How he became an actor?

He was visiting a cousin in Mumbai when he bagged an offer to walk the ramp. He was a Grasim Mr. India finalist. And soon, this led to more opportunities being thrown his way. Since then, from hosting TV shows like Rock-N-Roll Family and Hero Honda Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007 and acting in several popular daily soaps and now doing films like Mohenjo Daro, Guest Iin London, Baadshaho, Housefull 4 and many more, he has come a long way!
