No, black people aren't immune to coronavirus. No one apparently is genetically resistant to it.
Busting the myth that has been around for a while now, Hollywood actor Idris Elba has punctured the myth that black people are immune to the disease.
Idris Elba who said "it sucks" as he announced he has tested positive for COVID-19, said he was scared when he read about the myth circulating.
"Something that¡¯s sort of scaring me when I read the comments and see some of the reactions is: My people ¡ª black people, black people ¡ª please, please understand that coronavirus ... you can get it, all right".
"There are so many stupid, ridiculous conspiracy theories about black people not being able to get it. That¡¯s dumb, stupid," he added.
"That is the quickest way to get more black people killed. And I¡¯m talking about the whole world. Wherever we are, please understand that you can get it. ... Just know you have to be as vigilant as every other race. This disease does not discriminate. ... As a black person who has contracted the virus, it needs to be said," he said.

Idris Elba had left a lot of people confused when he said that he was tested positive despite having no symptoms at all. Then why was he tested for COVID-19?
"The simple answer is that on Friday last week, I was told that someone that I had been in contact with had tested positive," he explained and added, "So it was definitely something that I had to do as I was about to start filming, and I was around a lot of people. ... It meant putting a lot of people at risk if I had been exposed."

Wondering how is he spending time in quarantine? "It¡¯s been a mad 24 hours, as you can probably guess. And yesterday was good and bad. It was bad because, obviously, I tested positive, but it was also good because I think it opened up a lot of conversation around it. I think it made it more real for some people ¡ª definitely made it more real for me and my family," he said.
