'If Women Can Show Off Sexy Bodies Why Can't Men?,' RGV On Complaint Against Ranveer Singh
Ram Gopal Varma asks if women can show off their sexy bodies why can't men. He also says Ranveer Singh is only rooting for gender equality as he reacted on Police complaint against him for nude photoshoot.
Most of the people were left stunned by Ranveer Singh's photoshoot. Celebrities like Zoya Akhtar, Maheep Kapoor, Manish Malhotra, Richa Chadha, and Aahana Kumra dropped fire emojis. Masaba Gupta called it brave and unapologetic. But allegedly, women's sentiments were hurt.
This came to light after a police complaint was filed against Ranveer Singh. What for? For "hurting women's sentiments". This has led to a massive debate on Twitter. While some people this shouldn't be taken seriously, others agree that this sends a wrong message to the women and kids.
Amid all this, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma says Ranveer is only demanding gender equality by doing this. Here's what he said on the Police complaint being filed against him.

"I think it¡¯s his way of demanding justice for gender equality. If women can show off their sexy bodies why can¡¯t men? It¡¯s hypocritical that men are judged by a different standard. Men should have as many equal rights as women," RGV was quoted as saying by ETimes.
For the unversed, two applications have been filed with the Mumbai Police on Monday seeking FIR against Ranveer Singh for "hurting women's sentiments" via the nude photos that he posted on his Instagram account. The photos were clicked for PAPER magazine. Ranveer posed nude on a rug for this photoshoot.
The two complaints were filed by an NGO based in the east Mumbai suburb and by a woman lawyer. An official told PTI, "We received applications from a person associated with an NGO and a woman lawyer on Monday in this matter. No FIR is registered so far. We are enquiring".

"Last week we saw many nude photographs were clicked in such a manner that any male or female will feel ashamed about it. These kinds of acts should be opposed strongly, if it is not being opposed then second and third rank actors will also follow the same path for getting cheap publicity which will result in the worst condition," says the complaint by the NGO named Shyam Mangaram foundation.
The complaint has been filed under section 67A of the IT Act along with sections 292, 293, 354 and 509 of the Indian Penal CodeIt also adds, "As this act of the accused person created shame in the eyes of the women at large and publishing and transmitting sexually explicit material."
