Their family confirmed the news to ETimes in a statement that read, "Our beloved Dolly has left for her heavenly abode today early morning. We are in a state of shock with the loss. The final rites shall be conducted today afternoon."
Dolly's health reportedly deteriorated. The doctors advised her to rest. However, she was taken to the hospital following respiratory problems, which unfortunately didn't improve.
A day before this, the family had confirmed the death of Badtameez Dil fame actress Amandeep Sohi. Her brother Manu revealed she was battling jaundice.
Dolly Sohi is survived by daughter Amelie. She was separated from her husband Avneet Dhanowa, an NRI who lived in Canada. Talking about her diagnosis and how she revealed about it to Amelie, she had earlier told Etimes, "It was very difficult to talk to my daughter Amelia about it. She was just 14 years old, when I received the diagnosis, I started giving her hints and told her that Miu, mummy was going to be fine and that she would get well soon. Later when I shared it with her, I made her understand that it is curable and I will be fine. Slowly she began to take it normally and she is better."
Actress Poorva Gokhale had already replaced Dolly Sohi in Jhanak in the role of Shrishti Mukherjee.
Talking about the role, she told TellyChakkar in an interview, "It is difficult to take over someone else¡¯s work. Dolly Sohi played the character in a particular way and I am trying to understand the character. The show is comparatively new so I hope to win over the audience¡¯s hearts. It is a challenge to erase the work of what an actor has done and give it a fresh start.
She continued, "Sometimes it takes extra efforts to convince other¡¯s that my character is going to be in a particular fashion and this is how Srishti will be henceforth as Shrishti now has a different voice and a different face. It cannot be a copy of the same personality which was seen earlier. Another thing is that there was an equation of action and reaction which might have been set so I am sure it is a little difficult for them also as they have to establish the same connection again with a new face."
