Joaquin Phoenix Likely To Return As 'Joker', Reportedly Offered Rs 367 Crore For 2 Sequels
Joaquin Phoenix is being offered a whopping $50 million (Rs 367 crore) to play villainous Joker yet again in two sequels.
When the Joker had released, it made waves all across the globe. People had been appealing makers for a sequel for Joaquin Phoenix's performance bowled them over.
Looks like fans' prayers have been heard as Phoenix is in talks for not one but two sequels of the epic film.
If latest reports are to be believed, the marvellous actor is being offered a whopping $50 million (Rs 367 crore) to play the badass villain yet again in two sequels. The commercial success of the movie has made studio rethink on their plans and turn into probable franchise from just being a standalone movie.
Will Phoenix go back to Gotham? He had earlier said he would.
"I wouldn't have thought of this as my dream role. But now, honestly, I can't stop thinking about it.
"I talked to [director] Todd a lot about what else we might be able to do, in general, just working together, but also specifically, if there's something else we can do with Joker that might be interesting," he had earlier said on Popcorn with Peter Travers.
Even now, he is all up for it!
"Joaquin initially felt Joker was a standalone movie. But he¡¯s changed his tune now. He says he wants to play this character again, despite the controversies that came with the release last year. It¡¯s still being negotiated but the scripts are being written and Joaquin is very engaged with it.
"They plan to make two sequels in the next four years, with a long-term commitment to Joaquin and his Joker director Todd Phillips and producer Bradley Cooper. It¡¯s all about getting Joaquin to accept the terms ¨C and the biggest payday of his career by far," a source told The Mirror.
There have been many portrayals of Batman's arch nemesis Joker, but if there's anyone who came close to that of Heath Ledger, it's Joaquin Phoenix. The man won an Oscar for his performance, after all, and became the second actor after Ledger to win the prestigious award for portrayal of Arthur Fleck.
