Johnny Depp donates earnings from NFT sale to charity.
Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp has moved on with his life after winning the televised defamation trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard that grabbed attention worldwide.
From opening a TikTok account to performing on stages and celebrating with his friends, the actor has been keeping himself quite busy to overcome the trauma and transit into his own world of entertainment post the six-week long trial in Virginia.
Latest reports suggest that Johnny Depp has donated the earnings from an NFT sale to four different charities, including the Children¡¯s Hospital of Los Angeles, which reportedly has been associated with his former wife Amber Heard.
The actor's Never Fear Truth NFT (non-fungible token) platform announced on Wednesday (July 6), that it had managed to raise around ?63,359,909.60 (INR) or $800,000 in total donations.
This amount was later split between four organisations - The Footprint Coalition, Perth Children¡¯s Hospital Foundation (via CAF America), Great Ormond Street Hospital Children¡¯s Charity (via CAF America), and the fourth Children¡¯s Hospital of Los Angeles, which has ties with Amber Heard, Johnny Depp¡¯s ex-wife.
Moreover, the actor's donation comes after his former wife Amber Heard reportedly failed to donate over Rs 5.54 crores $7m from her divorce settlement with Johnny Depp as as she had sworn to do in 2016.
Back then, the Aquaman actress had promised that she would donate the money she receives from her divorce settlement with Johnny Depp to the Children¡¯s Hospital of Los Angeles and the American Civil Liberties Union.
However, during the defamation trial in Virginia, it came to light that Amber Heard is yet to fulfil her promise to the charity organisations. Last month, the 36-year-old actress once again mentioned that she still has plans to make the donations.
"I made a pledge, and that pledge is made over time by its nature," Amber Heard told Savannah Guthrie in an exclusive interview for NBC News.
Meanwhile, soon after the announcement of Johnny Depp¡¯s NFT sale, fans flocked to social media to praise The Pirates of the Caribbean actor for his kindness.
Referring to Johnny Deppp and Amber Heard' defamation trial, one user wrote, ¡°And this, ladies and gentlemen, is philanthropy. And the difference between an unfulfilled pledge, and a straight donation. PS Pledges most often have a schedule for fulfillment. And a signed pledge vehicle. I¡¯m certain these organizations are very grateful.¡±
