The Khan Of All Trades! Kader Khan Made Us Laugh & Cry With Not Just Acting But Writing As Well
Here is a list of best movies of Kader Khan, the only Khan who not even once failed to make us smile, laugh and even cry sometimes. Did you know he was a dialogue writer too. In the story, you will find Kader Khan's best dialogues as well.
"Itna sannata kyu hai bhai"! Be it this line from Sholay or the most heavy dialogue mouthed by Amitabh Bachchan -- "Vijay Dinanath Chauhan, Poora Naam. Baap Ka Naam Dinanath Chauhan, Maa Ka Naam Suhasini Chauhan. Gaon Mandwa. Umar 36 Saal, 9 Mahina, 8 Din aur Yeh Solva Ghanta Chaalu Hai Aye," the great Kader Khan was behind the most iconic dialogues of Hindi cinema.
While we have adored him the role of father, husband and uncle in iconic roles of the 80s and 90s, the era in which he ruled the silver screen and added a unique flavour to all his films, not many people know that he was an equally stellar dialogue writer too. This aspect of his career remains to be lesser-known and unacknowledged.
Before Shah Rukh, Salman, Aamir and Irrfan, it was Kader Khan who not even once failed to make us smile, laugh and even cry sometimes. He was the man who established careers of great actors including Govinda.
Khan, the first of the lot that actually made a long-lasting impact on the pop culture of his times, acted in over 300 movies and wrote about 200 films. Kader was a man of many talents. Here is a list of Kader Khan's iconic movies that remain etched in our hearts.
1. Bajrangi Kumar in Ghar Ho To Aisa
In this movie, Kader Khan plays the role of a man who is extremely terrified of his wife as well as mother-in-law. He is a Gharjamai who keeps having conversations with his dead father, also played by Khan, leaping out of a photo-frame on the wall, just like Priya Tendulkar in Hum Paanch. Despite the fact that Anil Kapoor, Meenakshi Seshadri, Deepti Naval and Bindu gave outstanding performances, Khan's character managed to make his presence felt too.
2. Jugnu in Bol Radha Bol
In this film, Khan played a rather Hatke role. Jugnu existed like a normal human being for the entire day but at night he would turn blind. This is a secret that he keeps to himself in the entire movie. There's loss of hearing involved too. This Rishi Kapoor and Juhi Chawla starrer was a great watch and Khan brought some well-needed comic relief in it.
3. Mr Duggal in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi
Not only in the 80s and 90s, Khan brought his magic to the silver screen in the 2000s as well. Playing a supporting role in the comedy film starring Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan, Kader in the role of Mr Duggal stole the limelight with minimal screen time.
4. Amirchand in Haseena Maan Jaayegi
This one was a laughter riot. The popular trio of the 90s David Dhawan, Govinda and Kader Khan collaborated together to spell magic on silver screen. In this one, Khan played the role of Amirchand, who was a father of two good-for-nothing sons. It was hilarious, relatable and loveable at the same time.
5. Dialogue writer in Amar Akbar Anthony
In the story of three bothers who get separated at birth, it was Khan who brought in the elements of comedy and drama to a great extent. The movie, which was an example of communal harmony, would have faced quite some heat had it released in the times we live in currently. Khan's antics and dialogues remain unforgettable.
¡°Jindagi mein aadmi doich time inta jaldi bhagta hai ¨C Olympic ka race ho ya polis ka case ho¡± - he was the man behind this dialogue.
6. KK Singhania in Dulhe Raja
Govinda¡¯s flair for comedy in this masala potboiler is nothing short of a laughter riot, and he wouldn't have been able to do this alone without Kader Khan's KK Singhania. In this one, Khan played the role of the proud owner of a luxury hotel whose business is being threatened by Raja alias Govinda's dhaba with its delicious food.
7. Hoshiyar Chand in Coolie No. 1
This is another great example of Khan and Govinda's rib-tickling onscreen chemistry from the 90s. In the role of a protective father to Karisma Kapoor, who wants to get his daughter (played by Karishma) married to a rich man, he takes us on a roller-coaster of comedy when Govinda ruins his plan and falls in love with his daughter.
8. General Chittorai Pratap Sinha and Satrangi in Hum
This film remains etched in the hearts of people, especially because of its Jumma Chumma song. In this star-studded movie, Khan's role was also memorable. Kader played a double role which was almost pitted against each other. While one was a disciplinarian of the Army, the other was a theatre artist.
9. Badri Prasad in Mr. and Mrs. Khiladi
Kader Khan was one of the rare actors who would easily mould into any role and nail it to perfection. Not only his onscreen chemistry with Govinda was unmatchable, his nok-jhok with Akshay Kumar in this film as Badri Prasad is what makes the film iconic.
10. Raman in Baap Numbri Beta Dus Numbri
Hailed as one of the most iconic movies of Kader Khan, Baap Numbri Beta Dus Numbri saw him in the titular role of Raman. The movie was such a huge success that it was later remade in Kannada as Kalla Malla. The movie earned Kader Khan the accolade of Filmfare Best Comedian.
11. Main Khiladi Tu Anari
Khan played the role of jovial Constable as well as the Commissioner with the heart of gold, and he nailed both the roles to perfection. After all, Khan was known to ace character roles with utmost honesty.
12. Sharma saab in Judwaa
In the role of Mala's (Karisma) father, Khan was absolutely adorable. He would make you laugh and smile each time he appeared on the screen.
Kader Khan died after prolonged illness at the age of 81. He left behind a plethora of movies that will be remembered until the end of time.
