Kamathipura Residents Protest Against 'Gangubai Kathiawadi', Demand A Ban For Showing Their Area In Bad Light!

Just a few days before the release of Alia Bhatt's movie 'Gangubai Kathiawadi,' it has hit another roadblock. According to reports, the residents of Kamathipura staged protests and raised slogans for showcasing the area in a bad light.
The residents were seen carrying banners and posters of Gangubai Kathiawadi. The locals allege Gangubai Kathiawadi shows Kamathipura in a 'wrong' and 'shameful' light.
The people further claimed that 'their Kamathipura is 250 years old, many engineers, pilots, doctors lived there, but they are defamed because of films. People are not getting jobs even after they appear for the interviews. It's bad to hear!.'
The residents have also demanded a ban on Alia Bhatt's film. Gangubai's family had also objected to her portrayal in the film.
However, the team was unaffected by the controversy and was headed to Berlin for the world premiere of 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' at the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival.
The film was showcased at the Berlinale Special Galas on February 16.
The upcoming period movie is adapted from one of the chapters of noted author Hussain Zaidi¡¯s book "Mafia Queens of Mumbai."
