'Appalling Act By Jihadis', Kangana Ranaut And Other Celebs React To Attack On Salman Rushdie
Bollywood celebrities including Kangana Ranaut, Javed Akhtar and Swara Bhasker among others have condemned the attack on Salman Rushdie. Ranaut called it an appalling act by Jihadis.
As per the latest development, author Salman Rushdie has been taken off the ventilator but remains hospitalised after he was stabbed multiple times at a literary event in New York. He was reportedly stabbed approximately 10 times in the neck and the abdomen.

The incident took place when he was about to speak at the event. As he was about to speak, a man rushed to the stage and stabbed him. The man in question, identified as 24-year-old New Jersey resident Hadi Matar, was wrestled to the ground by staff. Rushdie was quickly airlifted to a hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. It is being said that he may lose an eye. Furthermore, the nerves in one of his arms have been severed and his liver has also been damaged.
Kangana Ranaut and other Bollywood stars condemn the attack
Amid the shocking incident that has left everyone applauding, Bollywood celebrities have also condemned the attack. From Swara Bhasker to Kangana Ranaut and Javed Akhtar, everyone is angry.
Kangana Ranaut took to Instagram Stories to condemn the attack. She wrote, "Another day another appalling act by jihadis. The Satanic Verses is one of the greatest book of it's time¡ I am shaken beyond words¡ Appalling".
For the unversed, Salman Rushdie faced multiple death threats after he wrote The Satanic Verses.
Javed Akhtar took to Twitter to write, "I condemn the barbaric attack on Salman Rushdie by some fanatic. I hope that NY police and the court will take the strongest action possible against the attacker".

Actor Ranvir Shorey called the attacker a predator. He said, "The crazies have truly taken over the world. They aren¡¯t crazies. They go for the neck. They¡¯re predators."

Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden has also condemned the incident and stated the 75-year-old writer stands for essential and universal ideals, which are truth, courage and resilience. "I am grateful to the first responders and the brave individuals who jumped into action to render aid to Rushdie and subdue the attacker," President Biden said.
On the other side, British leader Boris Johnson has also said that he is "appalled" at what happened. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that the attack is "reprehensible" and "cowardly."
