Kangana Ranaut slams Netflix's IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack
Expressing her opinion on the Netflix show IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack and comparing it to her own film Emergency, Kangana expressed double standards in content regulation. She questioned why OTT platforms are allowed to stream violence and nudity, while certain scenes of her film that portray "historical facts" have been asked to be censored. Taking a dig at the show, she quoted a tweet that pointed out the Anubhav Sinha show shows the Hindu identity of the hijackers of an Indian Airlines flight from Kathmandu to Delhi.
Law of the land is that one can show unimaginable amount of violence and nudity on OTT platforms without any consequence or censorship, one can even distort real life events to suit their politically motivated sinister motives, there is all the freedom for communists or leftists¡ https://t.co/BRRrG6NGXh

Netflix's Head of Content summoned amid the controversy
Meanwhile, Netflix India's Head Of Content Monika Shergill has been summoned by the government over controversy related to webseries based on real life 1999 hijacking of an Indian Airlines flight by Pakistan-based terror outfit Harkat-ul-Mujahideen. People have accused the makers including director Anubh Sinha for purposely changing the name of the terrorist to Chief, Doctor, Burger, Bhola and Shankar. Defending this, some journalists have tweeted that passengers who were on the flight that was hijacked in 1999 had told them that the hijackers used these names to address each other.
Why has Emergency's release date been postponed?
Earlier scheduled to be released on September 9, the movie's release date has been postponed as the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) revoked its certificate after multiple petitions. Kangana Ranaut meanwhile says she is "determined to release an uncut version of the film" and she will "fight in court and release an uncut version".
