Kangana Strikes Again, Says Most Young People Wearing Ripped Jeans Look Like 'Homeless Beggars'
Completely misunderstanding the #RippedJeans trend is actor Kangana Ranaut who has said any young person wearing ripped jeans appears to be a 'beggar'.
Since Wednesday night the one trend that refuses to die down on Twitter is that of #RippedJeans. The reason for that is because people across the country are slamming the statement of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat. The CM described in detail the attire of a woman who had once traveled in a flight on the seat next to his, before going on to questioning her values.
Rawat said, ¡°Showing bare knees by wearing ripped jeans just to look like rich kids is the value given now which is just a race towards westernization when the Western world today is following us. Ripped jeans pave the way for societal breakdown and is a bad example parent set for children.¡±
Once this statement went viral, Indian women started to share their own pictures while wearing ripped jeans. Several famous names joined in including Gul Panag and actor Amitabh Bachchan's grand-daughter Navya Naveli Nanda.
Navya Naveli Nanda took to Instagram Stories to protest against the Uttarakhand CM¡¯s statements. ¡°Change your mentality before changing our clothes. because the only thing shocking here is the message comments like this send to society,¡± she wrote. Sharing a picture of herself in ripped jeans, she said, ¡°I¡¯ll wear my ripped jeans. Thank you. And I¡¯ll wear them proudly.¡±
Completely misunderstanding the trend is actor Kangana Ranaut who has said any young person wearing ripped jeans appears to be a 'beggar'.
She wrote, ¡°If you want to wear ripped jeans make sure coolness quotient is of this magnitude as in these pics, so that it looks like your style, not your state a homeless beggar who hasn¡¯t got an allowance from parents this month, most young people look like that these days #RippedJeansTwitter.¡±
