Actress Kareena Kapoor Breaks Silence On Being Trolled For Calling Forrest Gump ¡®Classist' Film
Kareena Kapoor reacts to trolling she received for calling Forrest Gump a ¡®classist' film.
Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor Khan, who is all set to be seen in Aamir Khan's soon-to-be released Laal Singh Chaddha, has shared her opinion on being trolled for calling Forrest Gump ¡®an elitist classist¡¯ kind of film.
Kareena Kapoor will be portraying the character of Karmajit Kaur Chaddha in the the Hindi remake of the Oscar winner Forrest Gump alongside Aamir, who will be seen in a Sikh avatar.
Reportedly, Kareena Kapoor's statement implying that a good majority of the people might not have watched the original movie did not go down well as netizens slammed her for her comments.
In an interview, Kareena said actors get trolled by people for 'one reason or the other' and hence she chooses not to be on Twitter. The actress also clarified why she called Forrest Gump ¡®an elitist classist.'
¡°Every day, there¡¯s one reason or the other for which we¡¯re trolled. That¡¯s why I¡¯m not on Twitter. I feel like it¡¯s for people who just want to keep venting and I don¡¯t have time for that. I¡¯m very busy with my kids, family and work. I don¡¯t have time for all this," Kareena Kapoor Khan told News18 during an interview.
Revealing about her comment on Forrest Gump, she said, ¡°Somebody who probably doesn¡¯t speak English is going to watch the film for their love of the story which they¡¯ve come to know from the trailer and not because it¡¯s a remake of a Hollywood film."
Kareena said that Laal Singh Chaddha, which is a Hindi-language film is also being dubbed in Tamil and Telugu so that people can watch and enjoy it in their own language, and there¡¯s nothing wrong in that.
"Not everyone in the world would have seen Forrest Gump!¡± she was quoted as saying by the portal. She had said that LSC is a film that the mass people who haven't seen, will see it for a story and they aren't going to watch it because it's a remake of Forrest Gump.
Apart from Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan, the film stars Mona Singh and south star Naga Chaitanya in key roles. Backed by Aamir Khan Productions, Kiran Rao, and Viacom18 Studios, Laal Singh Chaddha will also be released on OTT platform six months post its theatrical release.
