South Indian movies like Allu Arjun's Pushpa - The Rise, SS Rajamouli's RRR and Yash's Kannada actioner KGF: Chapter 2 have all emerged as the biggest hits in the industry, while only a few Bollywood movies such as Alia Bhatt's Gangubai Kathiawadi, The Kashmir Files and Juggjug Jeeyo turned out hit and minted money at the box office lately.
This has not only stirred the North Vs South controversy, but has also left Bollywood filmmakers worried about the industry's future. Now, Kichcha Sudeep, who is currently promoting his forthcoming Kannada fantasy action-adventure film 'Vikrant Rona', has opened up about the failure of films in Bollywood industry.
During an event, the actor compared Bollywood movies that didn't do well at the box office to India's cricketer Virat Kohli struggling with his form.
The actor also mentioned that he doesn't want to generalise South Indian films' success as according to him, Bollywood would not have survived this long if it didn't have to offer good work.
¡°A lot of films are made in a year, not every film does well. A couple of films do, a couple of films don't. That doesn't mean that we generalise and say it (the industry) is dominating. There are good times for everything. If the Hindi film industry wasn't doing great films, if it didn't have great people, how would you sustain for so many years,¡± actor Kichcha Sudeep said during the film's promotional event.
He said it's just a matter of time and added, "It's like Virat Kohli being out of form for a while. Are you going to take away his records? It doesn't work that way... Every industry is standing by its potential."
Meanwhile, the Hindi film industry has been struggling to mint money at the box office with big budget films such as Kangana Ranaut's Dhaakad and Ranbir Kapoor's latest outing Shamshera and many others, which have failed to perform well at the box office.
