Kriti Sanon said that there have been times when male actors were not willing to do a film in which she had a bigger role. The actress said that what he did in Atrangi Re was so commendable. Bachchhan Paandey also stars Arshad Warsi and Jacqueline Fernandez.
Time and again, Bollywood actresses have spoken up about pay disparity that exists in Bollywood and sexism faced by them in the industry. About a week ago, Taapsee Pannu was seen talking about how she gets paid less than her male counterparts in conversation with India Today.
Now, actress Kriti Sanon, in conversation with Indian Express, said that there have been times when male actors were not willing to do a film in which she had a bigger role.
Talking about how male actors were not willing to be part of films where she had 60 percent of the role, Kriti said, "There are very, very few who would let others share screen space equally. I¡¯ve been in situations where most men were not willing to do a film where 60% was me and 40% was a male actor¡¯s role. Nobody was willing to do it. So, I obviously think that these things need to change a little."
Talking about her Bachchhan Paandey co-star Akshay Kumar, the actress said that what he did in 'Atrangi Re was so commendable'.
She added, "It was a small but good role. Akshay is so not insecure of anyone, and plays his part honestly.¡±
Atrangi Re, starring Sara Ali Khan, Dhanush, and Akshay Kumar, told the story of a unique love triangle where Rinku (Sara) is forcefully married to Vishu (Dhanush).
Kriti Sanon also talked about her character in Bachchhan Paandey. She said that she plays an 'urban girl who is very gutsy and knows what she wants and how to get it'.
Bachchhan Paandey also stars Arshad Warsi, Pankaj Tripathi, Sanjay Mishra, Abhimanyu Singh, Prateik Babbar, and Jacqueline Fernandez. The film will hit the silver screens on March 18 and is directed by Farhad Samji.
