Just Like All Of Us, Kubbra Sait Misses 90s Sitcoms, Shares How It Was To Do 'Wakaalat From Home'

¡°Everybody was going through a rough patch. There was horrible news, and then more horrible news. Everybody was in the same abyss of fear and worry. At this point in time, Wakaalat From Home came to me. It was a joyous moment.¡±

We have seen a lot of crime thrillers like Your Honour, Dark and Paatal Lok. A lot of short films on pandemic stories too. Giving us relief from gory and serious stuff, is a lockdown divorce drama starring Sumeet Vyas, Gopal Datt, Nidhi Singh, Kubbra Sait.

In conversation with Indiatimes, Kubbra Sait revealed how lockdown and working from home has been for her. She wasn¡¯t making Dalgona coffee or following any other trend, but just catching up on her sleep and reading more books than before.

Can an actor really work from home?

While for most of us, working from home has been fun and successful, Kubbra says, shooting for a show or a movie isn¡¯t an easier task if it has to be done from home.

When asked if filming from home was fun, she said, ¡°Not at all. Shooting from home was no fun. I had to check the audio, screen, frame, clothes, hair, makeup and everything else on my own¡±. That, she says, was a bit tedious. ¡°You're even making your own coffee so that you don¡¯t sleep on the table¡±, she quips.

What did the set at home look like?

Kubbra says there were ¡°four stacks of books on my dining table where my laptop would sit. The light was placed behind that. Somewhere in the front was my make-shift tripod placed on another book. I arranged everything by myself.¡±

Was working from home more productive?

Lesser people around also means lesser distraction. For most of us who are working on their laptops, work from home has been more productive. Kubbra says, in a way, she agrees to that too. ¡°Yeah, I could get a lot more done than I would otherwise,¡± she says and adds that she could also devote more time to her hobbies. ¡°I have also been reading a lot lately, which otherwise I wouldn¡¯t get much time for.¡±

For most of us there was excitement initially because Moji Ji would give you tasks every other week, we would play board games like Ludo and Monopoly, we were cooking and drinking Dalgona coffee, and most importantly we were all spending more time with our families. However, gradually things became boring and monotonous.

¡°When the lockdown began, there was eagerness in everyone to do news things. Everyone wanted to become a Masterchef,¡± she quips and adds, ¡°On the other hand, I was just wanting to catch up on my sleep. I didn¡¯t do any of this.¡±

Do we miss watching comedy shows?

Talking about the 90s sitcoms, Kubbra reveals some of her favourite shows that she has grown up watching. ¡°I love Dekh Bhai Dekh, Mungerilal Ke Haseen Sapne, Jungle Book and Chitrahaar and Flop Show.¡±

¡°It's all gone. We don¡¯t have any of that now,¡± she says and adds, ¡°I think we need a balance of both -- serious and comedy shows.¡±
