Lata Mangeshkar Opposes The Idea Of Remix Songs, Says It¡¯s Like Adding Rooms To Taj Mahal
Bollywood has been churning out a truckload of songs and not many people like it To pick an already popular old song which has a special place in the hearts of the audience and make a few changes in it is nothing but killing the masterpieces that we have. Almost every other Bollywood film these days has a remix version of an old song and only a few garner the attention.
From Ittefaq Se's Raat Baaki which was released yesterday to Main Yaar Manana Ni which was released about a week ago, Bollywood has been churning out a truckload of songs and not many people like it.
To pick an already popular old song which has a special place in the hearts of the audience and make a few changes in it thinking that it will again strike a chord with them yet again is nothing but killing the masterpieces that we have. That's what veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar also thinks.

When asked if she has heard the new version of Main Yaar Manana Ni, she blatantly denied and said neither does she want to listen to it.
¡°I haven¡¯t heard this new version. Nor would I want to hear it. So, I wouldn¡¯t want to comment on it. But in principle, I¡¯ve always been opposed to remixes and cover versions of classics. They shouldn¡¯t be touched. So many of Pancham¡¯s, Madan Mohan¡¯s and Laxmikant-Pyarelal¡¯s songs have been tampered with; beats and lyrics are modified. It¡¯s like rooms being added or removed from the Taj Mahal. These composers knew what they were doing. I don¡¯t think their efforts need any boosting," she was quoted as saying by DNA.

Almost every other Bollywood film these days has a remix version of an old song, and only a few garner the attention as expected. This also brings us to the question if the creativity is dying in Bollywood. With Hollywood and South Indian films being remade and songs being remixed, the industry is longing for a change.
