'Misogyny', Fans On Namrata Shirodkar Quitting Films As Mahesh Babu Didn't Want A Working Wife

Gone are those days when marriage would end the career of an actress. Genelia D'Souza had once revealed that people told her that her career is over for marrying Riteish Deshmukh. Not just D'souza, even Kareena Kapoor was told her career would be over after marriage.

These days things have changed drastically. Celebrities like Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Neha Dhupia and Bharti Singh broke the stereotypes by deciding to work during pregnancy.

But, did you know former Miss India and actress Namrata Shirodkar was told to quit films by her own husband Mahesh Babu?

In a recent interview, the Vaastav actress opened up about her marriage with Telugu superstar and said that he wanted a non-working wife, so she quit films.

"Mahesh was very clear that he wanted a non-working wife, even if I was working in some office, he would have told me to leave work and there are certain things we had for each other, which is why we also took some time so that I finish shooting for all my films so when we got married, I had no work, I wrapped up all my pending movies because we were clear and there was a lot of clarity between us."

After Namrata Shirodkar's statement, people started calling out Mahesh Babu for his 'typical misogyny'.

My mom was a working woman (we needed the money) and absolutely hated it, and always wanted to stay at home, so I understand not everyone has this option, but if someone does, let it be!"
