Mansoor Ali Khan refuses to apologise in the press conference
Amid the raging controversy, Mansoor Ali Khan defended his statement and said that it was taken out of context. He held a press conference in the matter today at 10 am and has reportedly refused to apologise.
He said that people don't know his side of the story!
He also took a dig at the outrage over his statement and expressed disappointment over the photos used by certain newspapers. He questioned if the rape sequences in movies are misconstrued as reality. He asked why people don't question that.
Asking journalists what a rape scene in a film meant, he asked, "When heroes commit murder on screen, in a film, are they murdering for real? Is this even an issue?"
He explained his statement!
"I spoke about the need for a caste census in Tamil Nadu like how it was being done in Bihar. I said that if the caste census happens here, then we don¡¯t need to beg anybody for reservations. Everybody would get jobs as per their representation. However, they have cut all that out and taken one small part as a video clip," he said.
He said that he reached out to Nassar and Vishal but didn't get a response from them.
Furthermore, he has given a four-hour ultimatum to Nadigar Sangam to retract their statement.
"They have committed a Himalayan blunder. I am a lifetime member of the Nadigar Sangam and I am among the senior members. When an issue arises, do you not hear both sides first before arriving at a decision? There was not even a call or a question or a notice to me, asking me to explain my statements. Is this how you run an association?", he asked.
He demanded, as per laws, that they call him to give an explanation for his words in the next 21 days.

Nadigar Sangam for the unversed is officially known as the South Indian Artistes' Association, is a union for film, television, and stage actors in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, based in Chennai.
In a statement, it said, "It was shocking to see a senior actor like Mansoor Ali Khan make such derogatory comments about his female colleagues. The cinema industry continues to be a difficult field for women to enter and succeed in, and hence, it¡¯s disheartening to see such comments about actresses who are overcoming so many obstacles in their careers. We condemn Mr Mansoor Ali Khan for the comments he made on fellow actresses. It is deeply saddening to see an actor, director and producer behave irresponsibly."
"Due to this disgraceful act, Nadigar Sangam is considering a tentative ban on Mansoor until he realises his mistake and issues a public apology. We also urge other actors to exercise care and caution while speaking to the public," the statement added.
