Explaining their dramatic exit from the royal family, she said that there was concern about the colour of their child Archie before his birth, she was denied help during her mental health crisis and was targeted by lies.
"I was ashamed to have to admit it to Harry. I knew that if I didn¡¯t say it, I would do it... I... just didn't want to be alive anymore. And that was a very clear and real and frightening constant thought," she told.
When asked whether she had suicidal thoughts, "Yes. This was very, very clear."
Meghan said that her efforts to seek medical help were also rebuffed by palace officials who were worried about the impact on monarchy. "I couldn¡¯t just call an Uber to the palace," she said and described herself as a sort of prisoner in Kensington Palace.
Opening up on the official concerns over their unborn son's appearance ahead of his birth in 2019.
"In those months when I was pregnant... we have in tandem the conversation of 'he won't be given security, he's not going to be given a title' and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he's born," she said.
Markle also denied reports that she made Kate Middleton cry before her wedding to Harry and said that the reverse was true.
"Everyone in the institution knew it wasn't true. The reverse happened," she said and added Kate "was upset about something, but she owned it, and she apologized."
She said lies were being protected.
"I came to understand that not only was I not being protected but that they were willing to lie to protect other members of the family."
Harry and Meghan also disclosed that their second child, due this summer, will be a girl.
